You may have noticed the new poll over the right sidebar. So here's the deal.
I've been thinking a lot about graphic novels lately. I have a ton on my shelf that I'm currently working through reviews for, and it made me wonder. How many of you (my readers) read graphic novels? This would encompass manga too, of course. Obviously my reviews for graphic novels would be approached a little differently if many of you were unfamiliar with this genre.
I personally read a lot of graphic novels, not because I'm lazy or dislike reading (obviously) but because I think they offer a different type of storytelling than traditional novels. The artwork of a graphic novel can enhance a story so much. But it's a double edged sword too. Artwork can also make a great story seem bland.
So what do you think? Graphic novels or no? Vote in the poll and let me know your thoughts below!

Agony
I'm back from the play, and it was AMAZING! Just as good as I expected. :) If you've never seen it, you should defiantely check out the Into the Woods
DVD. Bernadette Peters is the best witch ever.
So to keep you occupied for tonight, here's a video of my favorite song: "Agony". I apologize for the quality, but this really is the best one I could find on YouTube:
The reprise is a very funny song too, but it would ruin the first act for those of you who haven't seen the play before, so I'm not positng it here. To see the rest of the play, you'll have to get the DVD. And I highly recommend it.

Gone Again
Sorry guys, off to another play today. After work this morning I get to go see Into the Woods. So no new updates today. However, another Royal Rebels has been posted over at my other blog. Check it out if you interested.
See you on the flip side!

Waiting on Wednesday: 7.29.09

Hannah (Daughters Of The Sea)
About the Book (from Amazon.com): "Daughters of the Sea tells the story of 3 mermaid sisters who are separated at birth by a storm and go on to lead three very different lives. Book 1 is about Hannah, who spent her early days in an orphanage and is now a scullery maid in the house of rich, powerful family. She is irresistibly drawn to the sea and through a series of accidents and encounters discovers her true identity. Hannah relizes that she must keep the truth a secret but she also knows that soon she will have to make the choice - to be a creature of the land or the sea."
Really, it's a terrible description. I really hope this isn't what they decide to put on the cover. But I'm still excited anyway! I've always had a thing for mermaids. I blame my Little Mermaid obsession when I was 4. And Kathryn Lasky was one of my favorite authors when I was growing up. So I'm excited for that reason too.
Something about that cover is very appealing too. This actually a picture of a different cover. The newest version says "Hannah" where the word "Girl in the Shadows" is now. I couldn't find a good picture of the other cover. But both are still very pretty. I know, I know, more cover gushing. I'll stop now.
Hannah (Daughters Of The Sea)
will be released on September 1st and is now available for pre-order on Amazon.com:

Working on updates
So as I (finally) have a little time to work on the blog, I'm trying to get a few updates done. Looking over my archives, I noticed I didn't post any of my monthly updates except site searches. So I'm working on those, as well as updating/adding stuff to the sidebars. You'll also notice I finally had time to put the background to how it was pre-4th of July.
More soon when I get done!

Waiting on Wednesday: 7.22.09
It's time for another Waiting on Wednesday. Or, as I sometime think of it, my-to-be-read-pile-is-already-so-long-it's-taller-than-the-capitol-but-I-still-need-this-book. Haha.

Anyway, here's today's feature:
About the Book (from Amazon.com): "What really happened to Anastasia Romanov?
Anastasia Romanov thought she would never feel more alone than when the gunfire started and her family began to fall around her. Surely the bullets would come for her next. But they didn't. Instead, two gnarled old hands reached for her. When she wakes up she discovers that she is in the ancient hut of the witch Baba Yaga, and that some things are worse than being dead.
In modern-day Chicago, Anne doesn't know much about Russian history. She is more concerned about getting into a good college—until the dreams start. She is somewhere else. She is someone else. And she is sharing a small room with a very old woman. The vivid dreams startle her, but not until a handsome stranger offers to explain them does she realize her life is going to change forever. She is the only one who can save Anastasia. But, Anastasia is having her own dreams…"

Just like Tudor books, I've always been fascinated by anything to do with Anastasia Romanov. Hmm... maybe I just have a royalty thing going on in general...
Dreaming Anastasia
will be released on September 1. You can currently pre-order your copy from Amazon.com:
