Waiting On Wednesday: 12.9.09

We interrupt the Christmas festivities for a small moment to bring you a Waiting on Wednesday entry:

The Thirteenth Princess by Diane Zahler

About the Book: "Zita’s not just any servant girl: She's a princess—the thirteenth daughter of a king who wanted only sons and banished her to the servants' quarters to work in the castle's kitchen. Then, after Zita's twelfth birthday, her royal sisters all fall mysteriously ill. The only clue is their strangely worn and tattered shoes. With the help of her friends—Breckin the stable boy, Babette the witch, and Milek the soldier—Zita follows her bewitched sisters into a magical world of endless dancing and dreams. Something sinister is afoot—and Zita must find the source of the enchantment and break the curse or the twelve princesses will surely dance to their deaths.

With a mesmerizing voice and delightful imagination, Diane Zahler delivers a dazzling retelling of "The Twelve Dancing Princesses." Zita is the spunky and unforgettable heroine that young girls will love."

I know what you're going to say. Another princess book?!? Yes, another princess book. What can I say, I'm addicted. :D Two things have me really looking forward to this one. First it's 12 Dancing Princesses, which no matter how many times it's retold I will still love. Second, look at that cover! I know, I know, I'm getting all repetitive. Princesses and cover gushing. But seriously, look at it! You have to click on it to see it bigger because it is so pretty. Squee! Can't wait until February...

The Thirteenth Princess will be released on February 2nd, 2010 and is currently available for pre-order on Amazon.com:

We now return you to your regularly scheduled Yuletide blog posts.

That is a beautiful cover, and a novelization of The Twelve Dancing Princesses with a heroine rather than a hero sounds intriguing.

I'm really interested in the Thirteenth Princess- love the story if the twelve dancing princesses.
I don't think there can be too many princess novels/books retellings.
